It is suitable for DJs, small bands, and presentations and, with its cool and slim design, offers a practical solution for various types of events. The G3 offers intuitive handling and its technical features make it a reliable choice for sound at medium-sized events. • Easy to install (plug-in connections)
  • Easy to transport (low weight and integrated carrying handles)
  • Separate control for subwoofer

  • There is little to no feedback during microphone transmissions from the room.

LD Systems MAUI 28 G3: How good is the column PA system really?

The MAUI 28 G3 from LD Systems is a column PA as an all-in-one system. It offers DJs and small bands a simple but powerful PA system. The G3 is characterized by 1030 W RMS and 2060 W peak power, delivering a massive sound. This PA is ideal for concerts, mobile DJs, or events such as weddings and company parties for up to 150 people.

The MAUI 28 G3’s slim design blends perfectly into any room. You just plug its aluminum column elements into the subwoofer and are ready to go. The twelve mid-range drivers and two tweeters use proprietary technology (now in its third generation) to distribute the sound evenly. And they’re really “razor sharp.”

New technology meets PA system

Optimization at the crossover point minimizes harmonic distortion, making the G3’s sound even more transparent and robust. This PA is ideal for precisely reproducing vocals, spoken word, instruments, and complete songs. The cardioid speakers reduce feedback, which is very handy for speeches.

More Information

With a 12-inch chassis and four bass reflex ports, the subwoofer delivers powerful bass sounds up to 37 Hz. And it’s pretty fat and robust, even for electronic music. If you add a second subwoofer, the bass performance can be increased even further.

The subwoofer’s robust polyurethane coating ensures durability even under rough touring conditions. Practical for everyday use, the MAUI 28 G3 offers good sound quality and Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless music transmission. If you want to quickly fire off a Spotify playlist from your smartphone, the hardware also has simple transportation buttons to access the Spotify app directly.

We received two MAUI 28 G3 systems from LD Systems (Adam Hall) as test units so I could examine this hardware and test it in the studio and a suitable large room with over 70 people.

Unboxing LD Systems MAUI 28 G3!

The MAUI 28 G3 PA system arrives in two packages per unit. One contains the subwoofer, a Quick Start Guide, and the mains cable. The other includes the two parts for the column to be attached. At just over 20 kg, the MAUI 28 G3 subwoofer is still relatively easy to transport. The recessed carrying trays, one on the top and two on the sides, are a positive feature.

The floor-standing speaker is equipped with rubber feet and is very stable and non-slip. It is also robust and stable – it can even hold my entire body weight without problems. The plug-on column for the lows, mids and highs is straightforward and quick to connect to the sub. All that remains is to plug in the power cable for the sound check, connect the system to my mixer’s right and left channels using a jack or XLR cable, and press the switch for the two subwoofers.

Soundcheck & party!

I could stow the two subwoofers and the four parts of the two columns of the MAUI 28 G3 effortlessly in the trunk of my car. There was even enough space for lights and other equipment for the sound system. When I arrived at the location, the system was plugged together and set up quickly. I plugged the power cable into the power strip, connected the XLR cable to my mixer, and off we went! The first song comes through the PA speakers. And it sounds really balanced and, above all, extremely transparent. I’m not used to that from other PAs.

The bass from the two subwoofers is also really loud when the room is filled (approximately 100 people)—more than a 12 o’clock setting was not necessary for electronic music (house, dance, hip hop). The music was audible throughout the venue, just as it should be. I didn’t even have to adjust the mixer’s equalizer—plug’n’play. Excellent! The dismantling was just as quick as the set-up.

You don’t even need any special tools or accessories. All you need is a mixer.

There is nothing negative to report here, as, in my opinion, the MAUI 28 G3 system delivers excellent value and, above all, results for the retail price.
