Comments will load faster than before
Like other social media platforms, the comment section is the main draw of Reddit. You can post your thoughts about any topic on Reddit and then engage in conversation about that topic with users who comment on your post.
Given that comments are the main selling point of the platform, the latest Reddit update mainly focuses on the comment section. The comments will now load much faster than before. When you tap the comment icon of a post, Reddit will now take you directly to the top comment on that post instead of the post appearing in the way where you have to scroll to the comment section.
Reddit is introducing a new context bar
Tapping on the comments icon on a post will take you directly to the top comments of that post. But what if, in the midst of reading the comments, you want to check out the original post again?
For this, Reddit has introduced a new context bar that will stick at the top of the screen. You can simply tap on the image or video in that context bar, and Reddit will take you right back to the post.
New gesture controls to navigate across post types
With this update, Reddit is also introducing a consistent conversation experience across all post types. This means that whether you are viewing an image or a video, swiping up will take you to the comments section of that image or video. Swiping left will load the next media item in the queue.
If you’re a frequent Reddit user, it may take some time to get used to these new changes. For example, if you’re in the habit of swiping up when viewing a video on Reddit to view the next video in the queue, you might find that doing so now takes you to the comments section of the current video instead. However, as the saying goes, change is the only constant, so you may eventually get used to these new changes on Reddit.
