Fender has just revealed the new Squier Paranormal 2024 range. Updating the lineup to include models we have seen with the Fender logo on, but now available as the more affordable Squier versions. There are some sweet offsets and modern/vintage mashups.

Squier Paranormal 2024: Troublemaker Telecaster Deluxe

The two Troublemaker models in Black and Aztec gold are based on the Fender version from 2020 and are essentially Gibson-style Fender Telecasters. Now available in the Squier range, these great workhorse guitars combine twin humbuckers and a handy Gibson-style control layout.

The Fender-designed Alnico humbucking pickups with push/pull controls for coil split will be versatile for many players.

They have a bound poplar body, a matching bound C-shaped maple neck, Indian Laurel fretboards with pearloid block inlays, a bone nut and 21 frets.

The Black version has matching gold hardware throughout, whereas the Aztec Gold version has chrome hardware instead.

Paranormal Limited Edition Offset Telecaster SJ

The Offset Telecaster SJ is an offset hybrid of a Jazzmaster and a Telecaster with a Jazzmaster neck pickup. Again, this limited-edition model has a poplar body, maple C-profile neck, and Indian Laurel fretboard.

The offset body has a 3-saddle string-through-body bridge and a Telecaster control plate, and the guitar has a matching Tele headstock shape. They are available in  Ice Olympic White and Ice Blue Metallic finishes.

It is fitted with Fender-designed Alnico single-coil pickups, a Tele bridge pickup, and that aforementioned Jazzmaster model in the neck position. The pickups have push/pull functionality, which switches them optionally in series and parallel.

Who are these for?

I would guess these new models will have a broad appeal, as they are affordable and offer something different from the standard Telecaster. I like them both, and as I have found modern Squiers to be excellent value for money (Classic Vibe series, I’m looking at you), these could be a fantastic investment for many musicians.
