Apple‘s Pro iPhones are getting bigger this year. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be taller and wider than their respective predecessors. Coupled with slimmer bezels, the new models see a substantial increase in screen real estate (0.2 inches bigger screens). New leaks give us a clear picture of the dimensions, screen size, and bezel width.

iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are almost bezel-less, dimensions leaked

Apple is increasing the screen size of Pro iPhones for the first time in several years. The iPhone 16 Pro is going from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, while the Pro Max sees a jump from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches. To accommodate bigger screens, the company made the whole handset bigger. However, it also cut the bezel width. Leaked unofficial renders recently showed the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s nearly bezel-less front design.

A couple of noted tipsters recently shared dimensions detailing the change in numbers. The iPhone 16 Pro will reportedly measure 149.6 x 71.45 x 8.25mm and weigh 194 grams. The current Pro measures 146.6 x 70.6 x 8.25mm and weighs 187 grams. As you can see, the new model is slightly wider and taller but has the same thickness. A bigger footprint means its weight has also gone up a little.

It’s the same story with the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Its height goes up from 159.9mm to 163.02mm, width from 76.7mm to 77.58mm, and thickness from 8.25mm to 8.25mm. At 225 grams, the new model is also heavier than its predecessor, which weighs 221 grams. However, these might be the least interesting changes in the upcoming Pro phones. Their front design should wow you as long as you can overlook the pill up top.

According to the tipsters, Apple will trim the iPhone 16 Pro’s bezel width from 1.71mm to just 1.2mm. The Pro Max sees the bezels shrink from 1.55mm to 1.15mm. That’s a nearly bezel-less symmetrical front design. Including the thin frame of just 1mm thick, the total width on the side of the screen measures just 2.15mm. In comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra has a bezel thickness of 1.55mm while the total width measures 3.38mm.

New technology helped Apple cut the bezels

Apple is reportedly employing a new technology called Border Reduction Structure (BRS) in this year’s Pro iPhones. It allows for a “compact and efficient layout of the circuitry under the display,” thus enabling the company to reduce the bezels. The iPhone 16 Pro Max allegedly has the thinnest screen frame on any smartphone in the world. It remains to be seen how Samsung will respond next year with its Galaxy S25 Ultra.
