The KRK Rokit Generation Five is the latest version of the extremely popular active studio monitor series, with 5, 7, and 8-inch models.
Once again, KRK aims to prove that accurate monitoring doesn’t need to be expensive. With a range of new DSP features and an updated design, we investigate the latest tweaks in this refresh of the Rokit monitor series.
KRK Rokit Generation Five
For starters, the Rokit G5 series features a new transducer, boasting improved accuracy and responsiveness. Its bi-amplified design uses separate custom Class D power amps, now running more efficiently with a lower overall temperature.
The Rokit’s familiar woven Kevlar aramid fiber cone woofer is now joined by a new tweeter design. Here, its 1-inch silk dome diaphragm is completed with a copper cap and promises a smoother and extended high-frequency range.
In addition, the Rokit family now has three distinctive new voicing modes for different applications. For mixing and mastering, the Mix mode gives you flat frequency response, while Focus mode boosts the midrange for more pronounced vocals and instruments.
Meanwhile, the Create mode gives you a smiling EQ curve to enhance the listening experience for tracking and programming beats. In addition, the Rokit series is better equipped than ever with DSP to deal with any acoustic space.
On board, there are 25 combinations of EQ settings to get the best out of your environment, regardless of where the monitors are placed. Overall, the KRK Rokit remains a great budget studio monitor, with even more versatility for modern producers.
