This week, Microsoft introduced new enhanced features to its Dynamics 365 ERP solutions, with the goal of fundamentally changing the way companies approach project management, finance, and supply chain tasks. The newly updated capabilities reflect Dynamics 365 Copilot’s mission to empower business users with CRM and ERP integration to drive innovation and improve results in every business segment.
The corporate world is increasingly relying on artificial intelligence to improve operations from planning to forecasting. Now, the spotlight is on generative AI, a groundbreaking technology that is set to revolutionize business methodologies by inspiring innovation throughout ERP. This can range from streamlining processes to accelerating the generation of actionable insights.
Dynamics 365 co-pilot
First announced in March, Dynamics 365 Copilot leverages cutting-edge advances in generative AI to automate mundane tasks and unlock the full potential of your workforce. We have previously explained how generative AI can be applied to critical supply chain operations. Now, we’re excited to introduce even more AI-powered features across our ERP suite, which is included in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, Dynamics 365 Project Operations, and Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management. To enable these new Copilot features in your Dynamics 365 products, you’ll need to work with your IT administrator.
Use co-pilot software to simplify project management
With Copilot, project managers can quickly create new project plans for a new engagement in minutes instead of hours. how? Simply by specifying project details using natural language. The co-pilot then produces a project plan that can be modified by the project manager.
If you’re a project manager who constantly struggles to complete projects on schedule and on budget, you’ll be glad to know we’re rolling out Copilot features for Dynamics 365 Project Operations. This significantly reduces the time spent on project status reports, task planning, and risk assessments. With the added advantage of familiar tools like Microsoft Power BI and Excel combined with Copilot capabilities, you can:
- Use natural language to bring data to life. Once you explain the visuals and insights you want, Copilot can craft a Microsoft Power BI report or dashboard—complete with visuals and summaries—and help make it better. Want to dig deeper into the data? Ask questions and let the co-pilot get the right answers.
- Collaboratively align plans, budgets, and forecasts with business strategy.
- Streamlined sales and operations planning.
- Automate financial consolidation to close the book smoothly.
- Strategically close talent gaps for a more empowered workforce, gain a holistic view of cash flow dynamics, and reach high-accuracy forecasts through advanced predictive analytics powered by machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Project status reports and more with the co-pilot
Once a project is in progress, the project manager can use Copilot to generate a project status report, which Copilot will help generate in a matter of moments – dramatically reducing hours spent manually researching and writing. To ensure project success, the co-pilot can be used to identify risks and continually suggest mitigation strategies. For example, the project manager could instruct Copilot to search all open projects to detect common project risks that could destabilize the project, such as significant delays or budget overruns.
In conclusion, the recently announced improvements to Dynamics 365 Copilot aim to dramatically transform how companies approach project management, finance, and supply chain operations by harnessing the power of artificial intelligence.
