The San Francisco 49ers may have lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in last year's Super Bowl, but that hasn't stopped them from entering the 2024 NFL season as candidates to represent the NFC once again.
The 49ers have been in the Super Bowl for many years, and for one big reason: their roster.
San Francisco has arguably the best offensive group in the league and is allied with a ferocious defense that can overcome opposing times.
Under coach Kyle Shanahan, the 49ers should be able to win virtually any matchup, even now when it comes to pulling off back-to-back games.
The reason for optimism will only increase when the team is able to retain Brandon Aiyuk and sign him to a contract extension.
There were rumors that Aiyuk would be traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but it appears the Star may have scrapped those plans at the last minute via Josh Rowntree on 93.7 The Fan.
Jay Glazer just said the 49ers were going to end up as the #Steelers When Brandon Aiyuk showed up and met with Kyle Shanahan. Shanahan ran up the stairs and told Lynch to call off the trade negotiations. It looked like Aiyuk was minutes away from heading to Pittsburgh. Great.”

Aiyuk was unhappy with his contract status and requested a trade, as he turned down potential suitors such as the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots.
The Steelers seem incredibly unlucky to land a talented wide receiver, but instead, Aiyuk will continue his title chase in the Bay Area.
