Five days after an Indian woman, Vijaya Lakshmi Gali, went missing from an office in Malaysia, authorities in Kuala Lumpur are continuing a 24-hour search and rescue operation to find her.
The Indian High Commissioner has been in touch with the family of Ms. Vijay Lakshmi and is updating them on the search and rescue operations.
Vijaya Lakshmi Gali, 48, who travels frequently to Malaysia and Singapore on business, went missing after falling into an 8-metre-deep hole. She was on her way to a temple when the boy suddenly disappeared. Her husband and son will be able to escape the shortfall.
According to the Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, “While Search and Rescue (SAR) teams systematically deduced new tracks and located the missing Indian woman.”

“Local authorities, as well as the police, fire and rescue department, Indah Water Association and federal land agencies in Kuala Lumpur, are now supported by the Civil Defence Force and specialized scientific teams with advanced equipment participating in the search operations,” he said.
Search and rescue operations
Explaining how the search was carried out, the Indian High Commissioner said: “After passing through parts of the drainage system, the search is expanded with specialised techniques, including high-pressure water jets to remove obstacles, remote cameras and penetrating radars. Not just to map out inaccessible areas.”
“The Indian High Commission is in close touch with relevant agencies involved in our search efforts, as the search enters its fifth day. Agents are also in touch with family members to provide continued support,” he added.
Situation at home
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials of the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Association (APNRT) to ensure that search operations are conducted effectively.
The minister, along with Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Nara Lokesh, has been closely watched over the past five days.
