Just yesterday, OnePlus announced that it will launch the OnePlus Open Apex Edition on August 7th. The new version will be offered in a new special shade, while the rest of the hardware features are expected to remain the same. However, there will be some changes in the software department. The brand has just announced that the OnePlus Open Apex Edition will get a new VIP mode.
The VIP mode will offer enhanced privacy
OnePlus recently took X to reveal that the upcoming OnePlus Open Apex Edition will get a new VIP mode. The post says “Top-tier privacy at the tip of your finger with the VIP Mode #OnePlusOpen Apex Edition.” It clearly points out that the VIP mode on the OnePlus Open Apex Edition will be a privacy-centric offering.
The Apex Editioon’s VIP mode could be similar to the one on the OPPO Find N3 and Find X7 Ultra
OnePlus hasn’t revealed many details of the VIP mode for the upcoming device. However, it’s expected to offer similar features as the VIP mode found on the OPPO Find N3 and Find X7 Ultra. So, it’s safe to assume that the VIP mode of the Apex version will let you disable the camera, microphone, and location sharing. The users will be able to trigger the VIP mode by using the alert slider.
The video included in the post by OnePlus also almost confirms it. The clip is of the animation of the VIP mode for the aforementioned OPPO flagship products. The device enters in the VIP mode and the camera and microphone options are crossed.
Once again, apart from a new colorway (Crimson Shadow) and the VIP mode, we don’t expect the OnePlus Open Apex Edition to offer any other enhancements. However, there’s a possibility that the new phone could be offered with a higher amount of RAM and storage capacity.
