Exclusive Leak: Motorola Edge 50 Ultra

Exclusive Leak: Motorola Edge 50 Ultra

Posted on

Here’s the third member of the upcoming Motorola Edge 50 family – the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra.

We’ve previously shown you the Motorola Edge 50 Pro and the Edge 50 Fusion, to top it all off, there is the Edge 50 Ultra. Which will be known as the X50 Ultra in other markets. We previously thought that the X50 Ultra and Edge 50 Pro were the same phone, but that is not the case. The Edge 50 Pro will be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, while this Edge 50 Ultra will use the brand new, just announced Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.

Motorola’s Edge 50 Ultra sports a triple-camera setup on the rear, which uses 50-megapixel sensors, including a periscope lens that is 75mm. That is equivalent to around a 5x optical zoom. There is also laser autofocus just above that periscope lens. And a triple-LED flash to the right of it.

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra will come in three colors, including Pantone’s Color of the Year

Motorola will have three colors available for the Edge 50 Ultra, including Peach Fuzz. Which is the Pantone Color of the Year for 2024, and a color that Motorola has used on a few other phones already, including the Razr 40 Ultra and Edge 40 Neo. The Peach Fuzz and Black colors are a vegan leather back, with a third option being more of a brushed finish. Which is in “Sisal”, and looks more like a light beige color.

Unlike the Peach Fuzz and Black models, the Light Beige Edge 50 Ultra boasts a continuous, one-piece back. The light color seamlessly flows from the back panel right into the camera bump, creating a unified aesthetic.

We also do know that the Edge 50 Ultra sports a curved display with a camera hole punch in the center, like most phones these days. Like the other Edge 50 phones we’ve seen recently, this one also has an April 3 date on the home screen. This means that the Edge 50 Fusion, Edge 50 Pro, and Edge 50 Ultra will likely be announced simultaneously.

Finally, Motorola Edge 50 Ultra should launch with the new Hello UI, which is based on Android 14. In fact, in some of the marketing material for Hello UI, you can clearly see the Edge 50 Ultra in black, as well as the Edge 50 Pro in purple color. This is a new UI for Motorola, and it will also bring in three years of OS upgrades to its phones.

Motorola did not release an Edge 40 Ultra last year but did release an Edge 30 Ultra (also known as the Motorola Edge X) back in 2022. It was priced around $999, so we’d expect a similar price when it does launch next month.
